Baby Milestones (Months 4-9)

From January to June, there were so many changes in Lily.  She went from just barely rolling over to pushing up on her hands and knees to crawling to now standing independently.  She said her first words (“dada” when she was 7.5 months and “mama” when she was 8 months), and we are doing sign language with her (she will occasionally sign “milk” since turning 8.5 months old).

One of the biggest changes from having a four month old to having a nine month old is her eating habits.  We chose an approach to feeding Lily solid foods that is called Baby Led Weaning (the term “weaning” here means adding food to nursing not cutting back on nursing).  I (Susan) could go on about it but here is a brief leaflet.  Lily’s first meal was rainbow carrots which we got from Green BEAN Delivery.  A favorite has always been yogurt which she likes plain or with fruit (and we give her on a preloaded spoon).  Another major favorite is all meat/fish.  She’s a little carnivore!

She basically clears her tray at every meal now, much to Derby’s dismay.  The two of them have been bonding lately.  She thinks it’s funny when he licks her fingers so we have to watch them during mealtimes so she doesn’t tempt him.  She also loves grabbing his paws and ears (we’re working on getting her to stop that).  He licks her face and ears (we’re working on getting him to stop that).  She chases him around.   He sits on her.  They are quite cute together!

Now that Lily is 9 months old, she has officially been “out” as long as she was “in.”  Here’s a throwback 9 month “in” photo with a recent 9 month “out” photo!
