So, I'm gonna start this up. Not sure how well I'll keep up with it and I'm almost certain no one will read it, but this is where I'm gonna try and document my triathlon experience.
I'm not gonna post my daily workouts and training plan and whatnot since I use two other websites to keep track of that data. If you're curious, the services I use are triblogs.com (training diary and race planning) and mapmyride.com (route creation and workout calendar). Both have thier strengths and weaknesses, so I don't choose between. Instead, I'm planning on discussing breakthrough workouts, checkpoints on the training trail, and race experiences.
A little background. I am 22, turning 23 in April, and have been doing triathlons for just over 3 years now. I have completed 9 sprints, 2 olympic, 2 70.3, and 1 Marathon in that time period. I am a clydesdale (as you may have guessed) and my weight hovvers anywhere between 205-215. I'd like to get it more consistently in the 205 range.
I just finished making my first official training plan about a month ago. Before that my training was less structured and not periodized. I used Triathlete's Training Bible to help me setup my plan. This will be the first of a 3 year plan that will culminate in my first IM in 2010. My A races this year are The Chicago accenture Olympic Tri (Late August, hoping to drop 10+ min from my best oly) and the Marine Corps Marathon (Late Oct, hoping to break 3h30m which is a 23 min drop from my first ever marathon last month). My 3rd goal of this season is fitness based. I'd like to drop my bodyfat to around 13%, while maintaining clydesdale status.
Next year I'd like to complete 2 70.3s and a marathon, which should be a good lead in for 2010, when I plan on doing IM Louisville. Hopefully everything will work out as I'm hoping it will.
I am currently in the prep phase of my 2008 training plan and don't have any official events scheduled until the Ky derby Festival Mini-marathon in late April (Cat. C race).
Other general background info: I graduated from college May '07 where I rowed for 4 years
I am getting married in August to a wonderful woman who amazingly enough tolerates me
I just started my first real job 2 weeks ago
It's a big year, that's all I got for now
